Jane McDermott, a Boston native, paid her literary dues writing marketing copy for about 30 years. A resident of the Bay Area since 1979, she holds a BFA in filmmaking from the San Francisco Art Institute and an MFA in creative writing from San Francisco State University. Her book Look Busy: 100 100-word stories by and for the easily distracted won the Michael Rubin Book Award and was published by Fourteen Hills Press in 2014. Her short fiction has appeared in the journals Red Light Lit; Reunion: The Dallas Review; Writing Without Walls; Transfer; The Rambler; and 100 Word Story and in the anthologies How Running Changed My Life and Knit Lit the Third: We Spin More Yarns. She lives with her wife in Oakland, California.
